Dave and Kerry Morgan had lived in their 1930s-semi-detached home in Eltham for 14 years and a few years ago with the birth of twins Daisy and Aaron, they had thought about getting more space. However, with the news that another set of twins was on the way – their thoughts had to be actioned – and sooner rather than later!
Eltham has some excellent primary schools and is known as a good place to bring up children and with its small-town vibe close to London it’s no wonder the Morgan’s didn’t want to move to get the space they needed.
‘We like it here and so we knew a loft conversion was the best way forward for us,” said Kerry. “A lot of properties here have loft conversions and so I researched companies by walking around the neighbourhood to see who was building. I narrowed it down to three companies and asked them all to come and see us.”
Econoloft won the contract because we were the only company working to the high-quality spec that the Morgan’s quite rightly wanted. “We wanted render and brickwork on our gable wall end and other companies only wanted to put up plywood,” explained Kerry. ‘Econoloft understood that and were clearly experts in their field.”
After discussing the family’s requirements Econoloft used a hip to gable loft conversion with a rear dormer to create a spacious master bedroom with ensuite. With two youngsters already, Dave and Kerry are very much aware of the need to have their own child free zone. And, with two others joining the family – their very own retreat at the top of the house was going to be their little bit of paradise.
“Thanks to our loft conversion, the home we love now has enough space to accommodate a large and busy family, “said Kerry. “Econoloft has provided us with the house we need now and at a price we can afford. And, as the loft conversion has added value to the property, if we do decide to move in the future, it’s been a sensible investment.”
For now, however, the family have enough flexible living space and mum and dad
can make the most of their loft sanctuary with a bathroom and bedroom just for the grown-ups.
