REAR DORMER LOFT CONVERSION IN WAVERLEY GARDENS, EALING, GREATER LONDON
A dormer loft conversion in Ealing adds two bedrooms to a home.
For this client in Ealing, adding a single bedroom to their loft would not be enough to meet their needs. The challenge for our engineers was to get an additional bedroom into this dormer loft conversion alongside a new master bedroom with en suite.
While it is not uncommon for clients to want two bedrooms in their loft, in most cases they are looking for two mid-sized rooms, with perhaps a shared bathroom. This client wanted something larger for themselves, as well as a kid's room, so compromises had to be made.
Taking up the lion's share of the space, the master bedroom was placed in the new dormer, with large Velux windows letting in loads of natural light as well as an excellent view of the back garden. Classically decorated in a light shade of beige, the client chose to accessorise with grey curtains and purple throw pillows.
The grey matches the colour of the bathroom wall tiles, and the en suite bathroom is finished with white and chrome. There is plenty of room for morning routines, with a large shower and mirrored cabinets making it a perfect start to any day.
The child's bedroom was placed on the other side of the house, with the slope of the roof covering the bed, and Velux windows in the roof to let in the light. The whole room is painted in bright colours, making a warm and inviting space for young kids. The room is admittedly quite small, but practical enough if a child has a dedicated play/study room downstairs. This type of conversion could also be a great solution for divorced parents without full custody, or simply to add an additional guest room upstairs for when children come to visit with a grandchild.
As always, the loft conversion was furnished with a staircase, this time covered with a warm brown carpet that blends stylishly with the rest of the home.
