L Shaped Loft Conversion Perfectly Enhances the Whole House

The Noels needed more space for their growing family and ideally wanted to move to a 3-bedroomed house in Brockley, an area they loved. However, they soon realised that they would need to extend their mortgage by a staggering £200,000 just to get that extra bedroom.

Deji, Jacqui and their daughters 7-year-old Leila and 4-year-old Suri decided instead to get the extra space they needed by converting their loft.

“We live in a mid Victorian terraced house, which originally had three bedrooms,” said Jacqui.  ‘However, as the properties originally had a downstairs bathroom, the previous owner had converted a bedroom into a bathroom.  We have a lovely, big family bathroom but only two bedrooms and as the girls are growing up we needed more space for them.”

The couple saw various loft conversion companies but it was Econoloft’s expertise that won them over.

Their L shaped loft was the ideal shape for two rooms and while most conversion companies pushed them to have a bathroom, Econoloft understood their need for a study/office space and suggested they install a small separate toilet instead of a full on bathroom.

The Econoloft dormer loft conversion has created a large master bedroom, a study/office room and that all important loo.

“We absolutely love the new rooms,” said Jacqui “and we are so glad we didn’t go for an extra bathroom because the study is just what we need.”

The whole house feels less cramped as the the girls, who for now still want to share, have moved into the former master bedroom leaving the other bedroom as a guest room.  Downstairs, moving the computer, books and office furniture into the study means the area feels much less cluttered and  the loft conversion has made a positive difference to family life.

“Our £41,000 loft conversion has added at least £100,000 to the house, probably a lot more,” said Jacqui.  “However, we don’t intend to move from here for many years and it has provided us with a fabulous family home that is flexible enough to adapt to our family’s need as it changes.
