Econoloft Loft Conversion
Home About Us Experience
Econoloft has developed over the last 40 years, set up by Derek Livesey adapting and changing our construction methods with the ever evolving building regulations, with over 8,000 completed conversions to date. We have covered many parts of the country, more recently centralising around London and the Home Counties, following the development of our southern office in West Wickham, Kent.

During this time we have been instrumental in the development of loft conversions within Building Control, specialising in the use of The Building Notice Procedure introduced by the then government in 1985. Thus eliminating some of the red tape and bureaucracy that often came with such development, we continue this theme working closely with the new independent inspectors. Econoloft are able to define national standards applicable for all our clients.

More recently we have been part of a panel advising upon the radical recent changes in the Planning System where the permitted development rights for dwellings was much revised, this involvement has allowed many more prospective clients to benefit from a loft conversion where previously they were restricted by existing ground floor additions and local planning restrictive interpretations.

We pioneered the use of Space Saving Staircases, against much local authority resistance leading to their introduction within the approved document Part K for staircases, which are now universally used where clients are severely restricted in access space to the loft. The technical team we have put together over many years have an in-depth knowledge of all the complex rules and regulations of loft conversions in every aspect, we therefore feel proud to call ourselves "The Loft Conversion Authority".

Derek is still active in the day-to-day running of the business alongside Robert and Rebecca Livesey. Derek has daily contact with our tradesmen to ensure that the quality of our conversions continue, whilst being available to offer guidance.
